Meet Sheena Chao
Sheena spend the spring of 2023 at NA-KD as a Sample Coordinator Intern!
Hi Sheena! Please tell us a bit about your experience from doing your internship at NA-KD
As a Sample Coordinator Intern, I work closely with the Online Merchandise team and collaborate with both the Purchasing and Photo Studio departments. Some of the daily tasks include organizing and handling samples that are new, shot, and in need for reshoot, and managing sample orders from/to the office. I love being like a link between the teams and keeping track of the studio workflow. I encounter different scenarios daily and get to challenge my communication skills. Sometimes I have to deal with unexpected situations in addition to coordinating the studio flow for samples, thus being flexible and knowing what to prioritize is important. This role helped me develop my organizational and management skills.
I’ve always been interested in working behind the scenes in the fashion industry, especially the photo studio. This internship made me even more interested - Everything from understanding or even creating the product concept, all the way to the delivery process.
Even though I don’t have a dream position yet, I would consider a career in the creative industry. My internship at NA-KD gives me a deeper understanding of what it’s like to work in a fast-growing fashion company. I got the opportunity to observe and communicate with colleagues from different departments. I was able to explore positions that I would like to try or work in in the future.
How was it working together with the Online Merchandise Team?
I must say it has been a wonderful experience working with my team. They’re always full of positive energy at work and we laugh together. The teamwork is great, my understanding is that everyone tries to balance each other’s workload. This is also reflected in the communication, as everyone is open to questioning or speaking up when there are any issues.
Do you have any advice for future interns?
- If you get the opportunity to experience something you are interested in, take the chance!
- It's always better to ask rather than to make assumptions.
